Away from transit traffic on soft hills on 1212 m above sea level, in the charming village of Taisten guests will find ideal conditions for spending a holiday in absolute peace and relaxation. Nobody can say for sure how far back the history of Taisten stretches, but it certainly dates back to prehistoric times. It is assumed that the first settlement took place at the time of the Illyrians and that the origin of the name of Taisten (Tesitin) comes from their language.
The Bavarians settled there in about 600 AD when the village developed diplomatic importance, as can be seen from the 3 castles that earlier surrounded the village. Taisten was first mentioned in a document in 770. There is no limit to the walks and hiking trails that lead into a countryside of meadows and woodland with glorious views of the Dolomites.
Our guests will find that the nearby world of mountains has retained its original state. A hike to the Taistner Alm is a real must in either summer or winter as is a guided tour of the romantic Georgskirche (St George's Church) for all culture enthusiasts.
We have our own ski school and family-friendly ski lifts for all ski freaks.
